Be immersed in the Canadian Canoe Culture as you travel along the Canadian Canoe Route. Spend time discovering the forests and lakes of Keene and learning to paddle on the Madawaska River before journeying on to spend two days of exhilarating rafting on the Ottawa River.

Day 1
Fly from the UK to Toronto. Spend one night in this captivating city offering endless dining and shopping venues.

Days 2 & 3
Pick up your hire car and drive to Keene / Elmhirst’s Resort.
The city fades away to forest enroute to a large lakeside property, featuring dozens of amenities and activities for adults and children alike. Watersports, hiking, volleyball, tennis, an on-site farm, evening campfires and orienteering are just a few of the adventures that await guests. Overnight at Elmhirst’s Resort.

Days 4 & 5
Barry’s Bay / Madawaska Kanu Centre
A morning visit to the Canadian Canoe Museum reveals the evolution of this ancient vessel. Travelling north, this wilderness resort is set in the maple woods, on the banks of the Madawaska River. Cabanas give guests the sense of camping with all the comforts of traditional accommodation. Trails lead away from the compound through quiet forests, and nearby waterways offer a place for a refreshing dip. A full day of canoeing, learning how to paddle a Canadian canoe on the Lake, followed by a trip down the river.

Breakfasts, lunch on day 5, and dinners included. Overnights at Madawaska Kanu Centre.

Days 6 & 7
Foresters Falls / OWL Rafting Resort
After breakfast, travel into the hinterlands of Upper Canada and arrive at the OWL Rafting Resort for your 2-day stay in a private cabin. Enjoy the waterfront resort, practise your paddling strokes and get ready for a full day of rafting on the Ottawa River. Evening fireside activities, delicious meals, snacks and use of all the resort’s amenities. Breakfasts, lunch on day 7, and dinners included. Overnights at the resort.

Day 8
From forest to city, arrive in Ottawa for an overnight stay in the nation’s capital. Drop off your hire car. Visitors enjoy an opportunity to walk the paths alongside the Rideau Canal, or visit the many public spaces surrounding the Parliament Buildings. Overnight in Ottawa.

Train from Ottawa to Toronto and flight to UK. Take a relaxing trip on board VIA Rail allowing time to reflect on the adventures of the last few days before arriving in Toronto. Return flight to the UK. You could extend your trip with a few nights in Niagara Falls, Ottawa and Toronto.

Prices from: £1,720 per person including flights, car hire, accommodation for eight nights (hotel rooms in Toronto and Ottawa; Deluxe Cottage at Elmhirst’s Resort; Private Cabana at Madawaska Kanu Centre; Private Cabin at OWL Rafting). Meals as listed. Canadian Canoe Museum admission. One day of guided rafting on the Ottawa River, one day of canoeing on the Madawaska River. Rail passage from Ottawa to Toronto on board VIA Rail’s The Corridor train in economy class.
