EPICTV ANNOUNCES FIRST SHORT FILM COMPETITION

COMPETITORS GIVEN SIXTY SECONDS TO WIN OVER €20,000 OF GEAR

EpicTV  – in association with Polk BOOM – is today announcing a new quarterly competition called Boooom Fest, which aims to unearth the very best in short action and adventure films.  Amateur and professional filmmakers are being encouraged to submit their sixty-second kayaking, BMXing, climbing, mountain biking, skateboarding, skiing and snowboarding films as well as BASE and wingsuit flying videos.

The first ever Boooom Fest will launch on 1 May. Submissions will be accepted at http://www.epictv.com/content/boooomfest-summer-2015 until 26 July, when an expert panel will review the clips. This panel will include Executive Producer at EpicTV, Alan Sim, The New York Times’ Editorial Director of Video Partnerships, Ann Derry and Nike’s New York Brand Communications Director, David Reti amongst other influential industry figures.

Award categories up for grabs in the first Boooom Fest include Best Editing Sequence, Best Action Sequence, Best Aerial Footage and Best Film.  The winner of Best Film will receive a full Wireless Multi-Room system from Polk as well as a €7,500 cash prize from EpicTV. A special prize* for the Biggest Impact will be awarded to the highest quality video which racks up a spectacular amount of views on EpicTV.com.  Other prizes include €10,000 of Euros worth of gear from the likes of OnePiece, La Sportiva, DJI and Arc’Teryx.

The festival will conclude with VIP screenings in both London and Chamonix, attended by media and industry experts.

When asked about Boooom Fest – Alan Sim – Executive Producer of EpicTV commented on how excited he was about the upcoming competition, “EpicTV really wants to embrace the young talent out there. Making great videos tell a story in under a minute is a tough challenge and we’re looking forward to seeing some exciting entries”.
